Welcome to my collection of holiday cards past. I'm back after an 18 year hiatus.

If you've known me for longer than 18 years, then this will be like a walk down memory lane. If you've known me for less than 18 years, know that this was a beloved artistic expression I endeavored on year after year and is an important part of who I am that somehow got lost in the shuffle of life.

Times have  certainly changed in these past 18 years. Unbeknownst to me, in retrospect, the cards captured a New York that in many cases no longer exists. So it's also a walk down memory lane of how life in New York used to be.

I had three rules when conceiving of each card - it had to be a New York City scene, I was always in it stepping into a role in the scene, and there had to be writing intrinsic to the scene that I would then change to say Happy Holidays.

I did not specifically set out to be topical with these cards - I just set out to capture a real New York City scene and insert myself into it. As I'm putting this website together now, I see how the news and topics and Zeitgeist of the time influenced my choices and how with the lens of 20-30 years to look back with now, it's interesting to see how much that Zeitgeist has changed.

A big shout out to my friend, my co-conspirator, and the star photographer Geoffrey Croft who photographed these cards year after year and who was onboard yet-again this year for my holiday card resurrection.  Click on the about page to read more about our decades-long collaboration.
